1. Coffee Shops Are Now Laptop Farms
I went for a peaceful cup of coffee.
I walked into a co-working space impersonating a café.
Everyone was typing like they were trying to win a contest.
One guy had three screens.
THREE.
I ordered my drink and quietly wondered
why everyone looked stressed at 10am on a weekday.
Oh right — they’re still employed.
Tough break.
2. The Dog Understands Me Better Than People
My dog knows:
• when I need quiet
• when I need company
• and when I’m pretending not to drop food on purpose
People?
They still ask,
“What are you doing this weekend?”
as if I have some kind of itinerary.
The dog gets it.
Retirees and pets operate on the same emotional frequency.
3. I Can Injure Myself Checking the Mail
This week I twisted something while reaching into the mailbox.
A mailbox.
In my youth, I sustained injuries from heroic athletic feats.
Now it’s federal infrastructure.
Aging is humbling.
4. TV Remotes Should Not Require Calculus
Why are there so many buttons?
Why is one tiny and red?
Why does one say “INPUT” but actually controls interdimensional travel?
I tried to turn on the TV.
I accidentally turned off the Wi-Fi for the entire neighborhood.
Technology should come with a retired-guy mode:
three buttons - ON, OFF, and LOUDER.
5. This Week’s Unexpected Gratitude
Finding the perfect parking spot
that doesn’t require parallel parking
or risking the passenger side door on a rock wall.
Small wins keep us going.

If this gave you a smile, a Like is applause—and a Restack is the standing ovation.

This is hilarious because it's so true.
Love the phrase, "federal infrastructure," for your mailbox. Sorry it was unkind to you.
TV remotes are always challenging. So are new phones! So many things to setup. I could do a several page blog about what I have gone through with this new phone. Still online with ATT (2 hours!) trying to get visual voice mail to work again. Have been speaking with a real person for the last hour of these 2 hours. UGH.
