Ok, enough chit-chat. What’s today’s question?
How Do I Prep for a Good Monday?
Here’s the trick to Mondays: don’t let them ambush you.
You don’t stop Mondays from being Mondays. You stop yourself from getting blindsided by them. The best way to do that is to create one small thing to look forward to. Not a big thing. Not a chore disguised as a reward. Something tiny.
A great breakfast.
A TV show.
A phone call with someone you actually like.
A drive into the mountains.
A book or magazine you’ve put next to your chair to read.
A round of golf if the weather isn’t doing something apocalyptic.
Anticipation is a steroid for the soul. It makes Mondays feel manageable.
Also, lighten your Monday load. Retired or not, you don’t need to attack the world first thing in the morning. Monday is not the day to reorganize the garage, make big decisions, or confront anything with wheels, cords, or instructions with 24 steps.
Make Monday gentle.
Here’s my three-step prep:
1. Pick something you will enjoy.
Something relaxing, dumb, fun, or comforting.
2. Limit your Monday obligations.
I’ve learned from Colorado weather: unpredictable is survivable. Overloaded is not.
3. Tell yourself the truth:
Monday is just a day.
Not a monster. Not a mountain.
You’ve survived far worse than a Monday.
A good Monday just needs a softer start.
